Ionians entertained Dinnington at Brantingham Park. With both squads suffering from depleted numbers, there was still plenty of good rugby on show.
Ionians took the lead after 5 minutes when captain Malcolmson, burst through some tackles and ran down the right before scoring under the posts. Conversion made by Kirk, 7 to 0.
Dinnington posed a threat passing through hands, but repeatedly their play was stopped by strong tackling in particular Cade at centre and Scruton on the wing, who snuffed out half a dozen opportunities with his defence.
Ionians second try came from their own half when a cross field kick from Kirk, fell into the hands of winger Magyaros who showed terrific speed to run down the left wing and score. Conversion made by Kirk 14 to 0.
Dinnington responded and having gained good field position they scored from close range from a set scrum. 14 to 5.
Second half Ionians started well and looked to take control, the forwards were developing good ball for the centres. The try of the game came from a quick break from a penalty with Malcolmson bursting down the wing, and then kicking into open space for Smeaton to run onto the ball from full back and score under the posts. 21 to 5.
More opportunities came Ionians way but they weren't clinical enough to finish, until a break down the left with Gibson, Robinson involved, and then Kirk was able to break through and out sprint the defence. 28 to 5
Final try of the game came about from loose play as a dropped ball in the Dinnington backs enabled Malcolmson to kick through and score under the posts, to help Kirk make it 5 from 5 conversions. 35 to 5.
The game was brought to an abrupt end with an injury to Dinnington's Callum Hancock, and we wish him well in his recovery from his shoulder dislocation.
Final Score 35 to 5
James Maloclmson 2, Archie Smeaton, Cahrlie Kirk, kenda Magyaros
