A Bridge Over The River Wharfe Too Far?

A late flurry of withdrawals meant that by the time we assembled in a field by the river Wharfe we only had 14 players. We are extremely grateful to Otley for accommodating us and loaning us a player for the day. Thanks Adam, it was much appreciated!

Despite some real heroic performances, it was too much to play such a big side with so many asked to play out of their usual positions. What can't be faulted was the outstanding commitment by every single lad and it was only some late scores by Otley that spoiled a tremendous defensive effort. The lads played almost the entire game without the ball!

We've fluffed the dress rehearsal for our upcoming Plate Semi Final (maybe like a good poker player we have shown our full hand!), but what lies ahead is some real hard work by all the squad if we are to be successful in a month's time.

Sporting Cliche of the Day
Don't get too high after wins and don't get too low after losses .
Despite this being the heaviest defeat this team have suffered in years, there are many positives to be taken from yesterday. The lads who were in Otley demonstrated real heart and commitment, to keep working hard when things are going well is a real positive. We did not give up and the coaches were proud of that.

Moment of the Match
Those that didn't travel to Otley missed seeing one player beat a personal record!
Never has Ifan ran so far with the ball in a match. It seemed the defence forgot he had the ball as he scythed through from 40m20m out for a score by the posts!!

Man of the Match
Again there was real competition for this reward, particularly the lads who contributed to the midfield defensive effort. This week we've given it to someone who has not played for some time due to a long term injury. He was strong throughout, with or without the ball. An amazing effort first game back - well done Nathan Bush!
