The Club is sad to announce the passing of Walter ‘Wally’ Wells. Wally passed away on Thursday 29th September 2022 following a lengthy battle with illness.

Wally was a ‘tenacious’ scrum-half for Hull & East Riding RUFC, playing in the Great Riding side during the Sixties. Wally also represented Yorkshire as a player on a number of occasions.

Wally was known to be a no-nonsense character on the field and a provider of wise counsel off it. Wally went on to coach Hull & East Riding in the Eighties and occasionally came off the bench when needed.

The Club sends deepest condolences to Wally’s wife Jenny and family. Wally’s funeral will be at Willerby Crematorium, at 11:30 on 24th October 2022.
