Hull Ionians RUFC v Wharfedale RUFC - Saturday 14th February 2026

We’re expecting the atmosphere to be electric this Saturday, as two of our senior men’s sides are both at home for a Mega Double Header!
The Buccaneers are out first at 1.15pm, taking on Driffield II, followed by our 1st XV at 3.00pm. Both games will be played on the main pitch, so there’s plenty of rugby action to enjoy!
We’re also delighted to welcome around 170 attendees into the main hall for our much-anticipated Great Re-Union.
We hope you all have a fantastic day with us, enjoying the opportunity to reacquaint yourselves with old friends, share stories and, of course, have a ruddy good time!

1st XV v Wharfedale
The last time we met Wharfedale was at Brantingham Park on Valentine’s Day this year. There wasn’t much love that day, as we narrowly lost 29–31.
Our previous clash was in October the year before, when we came out on top at The Avenue, winning 37–30.
We’ll be hoping to continue our winning form against Wharfedale this week, but we know they’ll be determined to come out on top themselves.
It promises to be a fantastic day of rugby, friendship and club spirit - so get yourselves down to The Avenue and support the lads!

Maliq (Hull Ionians Head Coach) said
"It’s never an easy 80 minutes against Wharfedale and I don’t expect this to be either. They’re a really strong team and, historically, have always been really competitive against us. Last year, we beat them at their place, and they beat us at ours, so we’re expecting a really strong team to turn up on Saturday. I think their win last week against Preston will give them loads of confidence coming to Brantingham Park and I’m excited to see how we match up.
We’re looking to grow from last week’s win against Harrogate away from home and we expect a big challenge on what will be a really momentous day at the club - 2 men’s fixtures on the first team pitch and way over 150 old boys turning up. I’m excited and I know the lads are, putting in our best performance of the season against Wharfedale. Up the I’s!"
