Kit and Equipment

Dear coaches, managers, assistants. As you may now be aware playing shirts are to be changed next season.

We are reverting back to a more traditional quartered design for every team from under 7’s to academy and all senior sides. We are changing supplier and the new shirts will be manufactured by Canterbury. This deal has been struck following long discussions with Canterbury and Gary Pearce. There are several reasons why this has been done.

First of all there will be more of a Hull Ionians image across the board. In recent seasons different teams have been playing in a mixture of styles which has lost our image. This has occurred particularly where a private sponsor has come forward and wanted to “do their own thing” It will go a long way towards enforcing the one club policy which we are striving to achieve.

Secondly as a club we can keep control. I dread to imagine how many printers / manufacturers / suppliers are in possession of our logo. The mini junior section have secured sponsors for new shirts on a two year deal and those sponsors will be carried across all the M/J age groups therefore no further shirt sponsorship will be accepted. However if teams wish to seek sponsorship for other items (hoodies, training tops etc.) they can do so by following the new procedures.

Thirdly we can keep cost competitive by repeat orders and bulk buying rather than bespoke outfits. With a reputable supplier such as Canterbury we can also guarantee quality.

The deal is not restricted to shirts. It includes shorts, socks, hoodies, polo shirts, tea shirts protective clothing etc. etc.

We also have plans to develop and expand the club shop which will not only stock playing kit but also a range of quality leisurewear.

Therefore with immediate effect anyone who needs to order kit of any description must route the order through the club. Deviation from the new format will not be permitted. Please co ordinate your orders with Pete Sharp only who in turn will liaise with Gary who will do the actual ordering.

If anyone has any issues with the new procedures please contact me direct. I hope I don’t hear from you.

Thank you in anticipation

Trevor Stephenson
(Chairman Hull Ionians RUFC)
