HULL IONIANS ANNUAL SPORTMANS DINNER.

Dear Members,

We hope this article finds you well and that you have had a super festive period with friends, family and loved ones and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the year ahead from everyone here at Hull Ionians RUFC.

On that note we are extremely excited to announce our Annual Sporting Dinner which will be held on Thursday 28 March 2024 (Maundy Thursday). We are absolutely thrilled to have secured England and Premiership Rugby Union Legend, Andy Goode as our guest speaker for the evening. Andy was for many years the metronomic core of Leicester Tigers' backline, a reliable goal-kicker and an excellent tactician. He began with Leicester as a youth player, winning caps for England at U18 and U21 level, but left to join Saracens following an immensely successful period in which the Tigers won four successive league titles and two Heineken Cups.

After an unsuccessful stint under Rod Kafer at Saracens Goode returned to the Tigers. Following consistent performances for Leicester and England 'A', Goode made his international debut as a replacement for Sale fly-half Charlie Hodgson against Italy in the 2005 Six Nations. Goode won nine caps between his debut and November 2006 before vanishing from the international stage. He continued to play for Leicester until leaving the club for French Top 14 side Brive in 2008. January 2009 Goode won a recall to the England starting line-up against Italy in the opening game of the 2009 Six Nations, ousting Danny Cipriani from the squad. He won the last of his England caps against Argentina later the same year but was retained in the elite squad for the end of year internationals.

Post retirement Andy has become an extremely entertaining after dinner speaker and sports pundit and we look forward to giving him a very warm welcome to Brantingham Park.
Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be the ever popular and first class compere Mr John Stiles. John is a former Professional Footballer, having played for Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers before injury cut short his career in the game. He is also very proud of the fact that his father was World Cup winning hero Nobby Stiles MBE.

To finish the evening off we have the multi-award winning comedian Rudi West. His experiences in comedy have taken in T.V. appearances on “New Faces” “The Next Step” and “Summertime Special” in the eighties, his own half hour T.V. special “Stand and Deliver” in the nineties. In 2004 he appeared on TV’s “That’s Entertainment” and during this time he also performed countless live shows around the U.K. and abroad. His original brand of humour blends the observational and the topical, seamlessly into an evening of hilarious entertainment.

With a three course gala dinner, auction and raffle we know this is going to be an event not to miss in our 2024 function calendar so urge you to book your spot as soon as possible. Tables of 10 are priced at £600 (no concessions). To book please call 01482 667342 or email emma@brantinghampark.com
