Match Postponed; 17/10/2026 - Hull Ionians v Otley

We are sorry to have to announce that the scheduled match on Saturday against Otley has been postponed and rescheduled to be played on 28th November 2026 (Awaiting confirmation)
The decision to cancel Saturdays match was taken by the NLR Secretary and NLR Doctor following an outbreak at Otley of a highly contagious skin infection known as ‘Scrum Pox’, which is caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). Otley currently have a number of players who are now isolated from the rest of the playing squad. The incubation period for the infection to manifest is anything from 2 to 12 days so Otley are looking out for any further cases. There are investigations taking place into how the infection was spread to the Otley players and if it is also affecting their recent opposition. I am sure that you will all agree that in such cases, player welfare is our main priority.

May I offer our apologies to our scheduled match sponsors and those who were joining us for our pre-match Lunch. The Club hopes that you may be able to rearrange your visit to us.
Please note that the ‘Ladies Day’ in the Hall will go ahead as planned.

We still have rugby down at Brantingham Park for you to enjoy as the Ramblers will play Malton & Norton 3rds at 15:00 and will take centre stage on Saturday.

Please come down and support them
