We’re heading to Heath RUFC, near Halifax, for what promises to be an interesting first meeting between the two sides.
Heath have recently been promoted to National 2 North from Regional 1 North East, so this will be the very first time we’ve faced them — making for a new and exciting challenge for the lads.
And the best bit? Google Maps tells us it’s just 1 hour and 10 minutes from Brantingham Park!
So, why not make a day of it? Come along, see what Heath has to offer, and most importantly, get behind the lads as they take on their first away fixture of the season.
I’m sure the players will be hugely grateful to see some familiar faces in the crowd.

A brief history of Heath RUFC

1927–29: Heath Old Boys Rugby Club formed following Heath Grammar School’s switch to rugby.
1930s: Club establishes itself at West Vale and enjoys early success in local and Yorkshire competitions.
1955–56: Club briefly folds due to lack of support but reforms.
1960s–70s: Major growth, including new changing facilities, clubhouse and additional pitches; Yorkshire Silver Trophy won in 1979.
1975: “Old Boys” removed from the club name.
1990s: Further clubhouse development and promotions through the Yorkshire divisions.
2001/02: Powergen Junior Vase winners at Twickenham, Yorkshire Silver Trophy winners and Yorkshire Division 2 champions.
2005–09: Further promotions and continued RFU recognition; clubhouse and grounds substantially improved.
2013–18: Major facility extensions; RFU Club Accreditation achieved; best-ever First XV league performance in 2018.
2018/19: 90th Anniversary Season.
2019/20: COVID-19 ends the season; Heath promoted to North 1 East after finishing second on the adjusted RFU table.
2024/25: PapaJohns Cup winners, beating Bracknell 33–22 at Worcester.
Finished 3rd in Regional 1 North East, with 16 wins from 22 games.
2025/26: League Champions and promoted to National 2 North — the highest level in the club’s history.
Outstanding record of 21 wins and just 1 loss.
Chris Johnson (stand-off & Head Coach) was the league’s top points scorer with 287 points.
Jake Haynes was the league’s top try scorer with 28 tries, despite missing games through injury.
