After a smashing season, utility back, James Watts departs the club. James featured in 25 games throughout the season scoring 54 points and of course was selected to play for Yorkshire in the process.
James departs the club on great terms to be closer to his young, growing family and we wish him all the best for the future!
James said “ It’s been my most enjoyable season of rugby with Hull Ionians. Unfortunately due to family reasons the time has come for me to move on and be closer to home. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone at the club the boys, Mal, Bulls and Thedey, for the all the support, memories, friendships. It’s been a privilege to wear the shirt and be part of such a special club. Wishing Hull Ionians nothing but success for the future.”
Head Coach, Mal Holden said “ I want to thank James Watts for everything that he’s done over this past season. He’s been a brilliant player and in many ways an absolute glue guy for us. The team is better when he’s on the pitch whatever position that may be. His impact on our environment has been imeasurable. Extremely consistent in his performances and it’s gonna be an absolute massive loss for the group. But some things are bigger than rugby. His young family are the most important thing for him, so we understand his reason to be closer and spend more time with them. Thank you for your contributions to the club and we wish you, Zoe and your family all the best in the future.”
