Ben Smith made his 100th appearance for the club in the match against Wharfedale. He has also recently accomplished the distinction of scoring over 200 points for Ionians, his three conversions in the terrific win up at Tynedale taking him to 201 points.
Directing affairs at fly -half, Ben has been an integral part of the team’s success this season and long may he, and it, continue.
After playing for the colts and second team, Ben made his first team debut in the 2014/15 season, registering two tries in 9 games. He made only a handful of appearances over the next two seasons before trying his hand at Otley.
He returned four years later to resume his association with the club and has taken on the kicking duties this season, following the retirement of Lewis Minikin.
Things didn't go Ben's ( or Ionians') way and Wharfedale went back to the hils with the spoils.
