Stephenson rockets to 250 points!

Ben Stephenson is the next player to join the rogue’s gallery in the Hall of Fame. Against PGH he notched up 250 points for the club, having scored 50 tries.
Ben came to Ionians for the 2017/18 season, Ionians first in N1, and came off the bench for his first five appearances, sharing the hooker’s role with Sacca Thomson. He made 20 appearances in all and scored 2 tries.
He became first choice the following season, with Ionians back in N2 (and Thomson having gone over to the dark side), he played 28 matches and scored 8 tries.
In the 19/20 campaign he was involved in 24 games and crossed for 7 tries. He hit his zenith in 21/22, after a year off because of covid, (remember that?) with 14 tries in 30 matches.
Injury disrupted the next two seasons, with six tries in 9 games and one in 3 respectively.
Back to full fitness for the 24/25 season he was a mainstay of the side, playing 25 games and crossing for 9 tries and he has carried on in fine style this year with three scores in 9 appearances.
It would be fair to say a length of the field try from a flier like Cam Burnhill would probably cover more ground than Ben has travelled in his scoring exploits, but who cares? Certainly not Ben!
