Under 12s finish season with win against Thornensians

First game V Castleford
A fast and skilled Casleford side scored in first and 3rd minutes but Ionians fought back with skill themselves. Riley put in a lovely chip onto the right wing for Mongo to collect and take over the line.
However in the second half Castleford again showed their skill putting in two further tries.

Second game v Weatherby
Another strong and skilled side scored 3 tries in first half. The Is fought back bravely in the second half and a late try attempt from Riley was unfortunately held up.

Third game v Old Brods
The host side benefitted from being very pumped up and scored two tries in first half. But again Ionians hit back in the second half, scoring the next try - Mongo collecting to score off a kick to the right wing from Ollie,

Fourth game v Thornensians
Once again the opponents scored the first try, a Thornensians player collecting a loose ball and running virtually the length of the field to score. But Ionians played with real heart. After a rousing talk from Steve P at half time the lads came out fighting and Mongo collected a ball off a penalty near their try line to score. The whole team was lifted and worked to give Riley a ball not far from their try line to burst through the defence to score.

It has been a difficult season with other teams growing in size and skill, our team suffering from injury, some players leaving and some new players joining late in the season. But the lads deserved to finish well and were all delighted to finish the season and their Mini's career on a well earned win.
