All the more remarkable as Ram and Alex have played only a couple of competitive games each. With the coaches message that with only 7 minutes a side the lads need to hit top pace from the off, thats exactly what they did. Agressive defending and skillful rugby limited Sheffield to only one try in the first game - final score 1-0.
Game two against Beverly ended with a very satisfying first win of the season against our neighbours, score 2-1.
The lads were particularly motivated for the third game, against Selby, when Ram's dad said before kickoff he'd buy them all a hot dog if they won. Final score 4-2 to Ionians.
We faced a highly charged Doncaster in the semi-final and Donny scored very quickly, slipping through on our left wing. A very physical game followed, marred by what seemed to be incidents of questionable behaviour. However our lads played hard and bravely and did themselves very proud. Final score 3-1.
The final twist to a very enjoyable morning was, just before lunch (and a Donny-Sheffield final) a pretty active hail storm on an otherwise sunny but cold morning.
