Spartans (Under 12s) win out in game of two halves

The verdict of the coaches was that the team didn’t really get going in the first half – and Goole scored tries in the 3rd and 11th minutes, without reply from Ionians.
However Ionians hit the ground running in the second half, with aggressive attacking and vigorous defence, seizing every opportunity available to play for the ball. Their perseverance was rewarded with a first try from Flash 7 minutes into the half, which he also converted. Red carried over the second to even the scores following conversion by Onslow. The lads kept their focus and, 3 minutes from the final whistle, from a scrum on Goole’s 22, the ball was passed out along the backs to Mongo to run across the field and over the line.
Goole were good enough to honour the fixture with 2 players short, so two of our stronger players were offered up for 12 a side - Benny T in the first half and Ollie in the 2nd half.
It was great to see Onslow and Flash back from injury, though Jobo had to come off before full time with a nasty shoulder injury.

Despite this, a great game of rugby had by all.
