Ionians scrummaging was very good early on from Chris Fox, Joe Baarda and Finlay Graves with Alistair Hall using the ball well but their tactics of kicking the ball failed to give them the ground they were looking for. Once the Hull side settled they took full control as their very well drilled team moved the ball around at will and this led to an equalising converted try on twelve minutes. Now momentum was with them the pressure kept on the Ionians defence made Riley Young, Red Silk and Thomas Poole work overtime keeping them out, but Hull finally broke through just before half time to take a 7-14 lead into the break.
It was much of the same in the second period as Hull increased their lead from the kick off collecting the ball and bursting through to score another converted try. More tough tackling from Ionians Oliver Parker, Jack Scaife, Jack Hassard and Joe Layden kept Hull at bay for a while but an electrifying run out left saw them go 7-28 up as the winger outpaced everyone. Thomas Shirra made a couple of breaks for Ionians and this put them in charge briefly as Jack Hassards kick out towards the touchline was collected by Riley Young who fed Red Silk for the score and Joe Baarda added the extras. The final few minutes again saw the Hull forwards pressing and at the final whistle a very well deserved victory 14-28 to Hull. Another short game was played as both sides had players not getting a lot of game time and this was won by Hull two tries to one with the Ionians try coming from Jack Hassard.
