New Players Welcome
Hull Ionians runs a highly successful Mini/Junior section covering all age groups upwards from U7s. With approximately 270 boys and girls the club regularly achieves successes in East Yorkshire and Yorkshire competitions.
The section provides structured routes through to playing Academy and senior rugby in the club and also representative rugby. There are numerous examples of players progressing through to Hull Ionians senior teams, Yorkshire, North of England and England squads. We are pleased to hold both the RFU “Seal of Approval” and Sport England’s “Clubmark” in recognition of the quality of what we do.
Each age group has a dedicated coach and manager. Teamwork and discipline are encouraged at all ages. Players are, above all, encouraged to enjoy their rugby! Both on and off the field there are events organised throughout the season to promote the enjoyment of the sport and build team spirit. Most age groups will have the opportunity to attend rugby festivals and individual teams frequently arrange their own tours that are supported by the section.
Mini/Junior membership includes social membership for up to two parents/carers. This provides access to the superb club facilities at Brantingham Park. The section participates in several social activities throughout the year. (See the section Social Calendar at Brantingham Park). Parents and carers who want to actively participate in their children’s rugby are encouraged to undertake RFU coaching programmes that are available for all levels and skills.
For parents and carers who feel they can contribute in other ways there is always a welcome at the Committee. The Mini/Junior Committee coordinates the activities of the Mini/Junior section Sponsorship opportunities exist within the section.
The season runs from September to the end of April each year with Sunday matches or training generally starting at 10:30. A full fixture list plus contact details for all the coaches, managers and officers will be added in due course.
