Dinnington brought a strong support to Brantingham Park, to witness their team take on Ionians. A bright calm day weather wise, was matched by a ferocious game on the park, which was a credit to both teams and to U14's rugby in general.

From the kick off an initial fumble by Ionians forwards gave Dinnington some momentum, and with ball being passed through hands, only stout defence enabled Ionians to survive. however that was short lived as from a penalty just outside the try line, Callum or Connor Hancock, crashed over to put Dinnington in front. 5 to 0.

For the next 10 minutes, tackles flew, passes were made, passion and desire at breakdowns made for enthralling rugby.

Ionians started to get a foothold into the game and after 10 minutes Harry Cawood burst through the Dinnington defence to register Ionians first try, despite a late tackle by Dinnington's full back. Scores level 5 to 5.

Ionians attacked en mass and a series of penalties on Dinnington's try line were resisted bt Dininningtons defence, however just when they thought the work had been done, a ricochet from a kick clearance fell to Ionians and Charlie Kirk popped up to score on the wing. 10 to 5.

The move of the first half swiftly followed, with Ionians now stretching Dinnington, and ball through hands from Jimbob, to Danny C, inside to Joe Walker, who set up Charlie Cade who still had 2 defenders to get through, but managed to score the third try. 15 to 5 half time.

while the scrum was contested heavily during the whole game, the second half showed Ionians in the ascendancy, and a five tries were scored, with 4 conversions.

Scrum to Ionians led to pass to Adam Myers who skipped inside and ran the ball in from 39 yards. With Myers starting to control at Stand off, and Captain Marvel James Malcolmson leading his troops by example, it wasn't long before the tries started to rain down on The DInnington line. James first try was good, as the ball was passed through hands and Joe Walker had space to run, only to be caught short of the line, with the ball recycled James was able to carry it over the line. His second from the restart was simply awesome, running through countless tackles to break Dinnington's hearts. His hat trick was completed after a set play, with Marshall setting up his captain.

The final score came from Adam Myers after more good work among the backs. 48 to 5.

Other mentions, Paul Evison, Brad Clarkson, Harry Cawood, great tackles. Joe Walker some fantastic runs. The scrum worked well and Danny Couch solid at full back.

Having failed twice previously at this stage, a great performance and deserved victory for Ionians and the opportunity now to lift the cup in April. Fair play to Dinnington, who were committed from first tackle to last.

Try Scorers: James Malcolmson 3, Adam Myers 2, Charlie Cade, Charlie Kirk, Harry Cawood
Conversions: Adam Myers 4
Man of Match : James Malcolmson
