Ionians U13’s continue their winning form with a 65:7 win against Doncaster in very wet and slippery conditions.

From the kick off I’s came out of the blocks on the attack, great forward work was only stopped by a basic mistake from the referee for not having a whistle !!!From resulting scrum the ball was won and forwards worked the ball through several phases for Archie to score.

Doncaster started to play some good phases of rugby, keeping the ball tight and worked it close to the try line. Ionian’s defence responded well and after several breakdowns and scrums, managed to clear the ball without conceding any points.

A kick down field let the backs get the ball and moved it along the line to Conker who found Brad has wrapped round to take the ball and score. The forwards worked hard to set firm foundations for the backs with Ben, Will and Archie at the centre of most rucks. Quick ball enabled Charlie pass to Man of the Match Harry and saw him power his way over for a try. With Doncaster forwards now been beaten at the ruck, Jim’s hard running lead him to yet another hat-trick of tries to finish the half.

Second half Ionian’s made some changes to the team and took a while for the pack to settle. Doncaster enjoyed the earlier pressure, some slow play and mistakes from Hull meant the visitor to have the majority of possession. This eventually lead to a try and conversation when the defence was beaten with a sustained attack.

Ionians eventually started to get some ball, try’s from Marshal and Jim got some confidence back with the team. Ball was now been moved to the backs, strong running from Charlie, Paul and Joe proved to be a constant to Doncaster out wide. A great ball from Ollie put James Magee through a gap to score. Further try’s from James and Brad rounded up and impressive victory in heavy conditions.
