U15 v Driffield

On the penultimate weekend of the season Ionians entertained local rivals Driffield. As with many local derbies, our fixtures against the visitors have often been tough, scrappy games - and for much of this one, it looked like being a similar story. Ionians only leading 5-3 at half time.

However as the second half progressed the team adapted to the way the game needed to be played. As the side played with greater composure they managed to score 3 tries in the final quarter to run out comfortable 24-3 winners.

So onto next week's Yorkshire Plate Final. Let's make it a winning end to our 14/15 season!

Moment of the Match
On a day when two players broke their try scoring ducks for the season, the try for prop Tom Lewis was a great reward for his efforts this season. But more significantly it came from the whole team keeping calm in the red zone, spotting where the gaps were, and taking the right option.

Given the performances in recent weeks, whilst all 22 available players are guaranteed a place in the match-day squad (which is great news!), the hard job is picking a starting XV!
What we do know is that should we need to make changes we will have some real strength ready to come on next Sunday.

Man of the Match
This week's award goes to a player who played a big part in the much improved second half performance. In particular he took on board the advice at half time as to where the opposition needed to be attacked. This lead to a number of dangerous runs - one of which lead to a well taken solo try, his first of the season (that didn't get disallowed!). Well done Henry Foster!
