For the first time in nearly 3 years Hull Ionians Under 15s played host to Selby. The conditions on a lovely spring morning were perfect for rugby, and both teams looked to pick up where the 6 Nations games left off .
Without a coach on the side-line (he had to ref!), it meant that the lads were on their own for most of the game. In the circumstances they coped well and further evidence of their growing maturity as a team.
Despite not being at their most fluent Ionians (as the squad were rotated throughout) but were still able to cross the line for 8 tries, whilst limiting Selby to just one score in a 50-5 victory. The enthusiasm and skill shown in defence means that only 4 tries have been conceded in the last 4 games - a tremendous effort by the whole team!
Scorers
Tries –Robson Jones (2), Bradley Crump (2), Marco Fummo, George Farey, Nathan Bush, Tom Johnson
Con – Ifan Downey, Marco Fummo (4)
Moment of the Match
At last an old fashioned 8-9 move off the back of the scrum lead to Marco Fummo crossing for a well-constructed try. Textbook!

With games running out before the Plate Final, and with fierce competition for places everyone needs to make the most of what training sessions are left. Do your homework, do your housework, do anything you can to ensure you can make it to training – it is the only way to improve your game!
Man of the Match
He's had a season affected by a serious injury but in recent weeks has returned to full fitness and in the view of the coaches playing better than ever. He capped another solid game with a great finish in the corner - well played Tom Johnson!
