Back to winning ways

A much healthier looking Under 15s squad assembled on Sunday as we completed the double over Dinnington. In fact with 22 players involved it was our highest turn out of the season so far.

The coaches took the opportunity to rotate the squad, including having a look at some players in different positions. The regular changes throughout the game, and the frantic rucking from both teams, meant that imposing the usual pattern was more of a challenge. The slippy pitch didn't help either, but still the lads managed to provide some decent entertainment and cross for 6 tries (with a few clear chances going begging as well).

Well done and a good response to last week's defeat.

Scorers
Tries - Ben Carlile, Cassian Chappill, Lewis Montgomery, Robson Jones (3)
Cons - Ifan Downey (2)

Moment of the Match
I've applauded our incredible goal line defence before, but it was evident again yesterday, so on this occasion I will go for the grubber kick from Robson to Lewis on the right wing, who patiently waited for the ball to kick up before grabbing the ball and scoring his 2nd try, in his first 3 games of Union.

Sporting Cliche of the Day
You've got to earn the right to go wide
On the whole this season the pack have been outstanding, and have provided good quality ball for a backs to play with. We cant get complacent and when the opposition are toughing it out with us we need to get stuck in, do the job of winning the ball and giving our back line the space they need.

We need to get back to our usual ways at the breakdown, so come to training prepared - with gum-shields and head-guards!

Man of the Match
The scrappy nature of the game meant it was harder for many players to impose themselves, but once again we were grateful for Robson Jones' try scoring ability, with yet another hat-trick, including a carbon-copy of Joseph's try on Friday night (when he escaped the clutches of two defenders (that was really difficult to write!). In addition he 'chipped' in with an assist as well (see above).

Lost Property News
In the ball bag there is an Ionians training top and a pair of black gloves please let Iwan know if they belong to you!
